Papers were filed and approved early Friday and an arrest warrant against Adam R. Hill was issued and sent to authorities in Dubois County.
The preliminary charges against Hill in Greene Circuit Court include auto theft, a class D felony, and auto theft with a previous conviction for auto theft, a class C felony.
The allegations behind the charges are detailed in a probable cause affidavit written by Bloomfield Deputy Marshal Harvey Holt.
Holt said he was dispatched to 509 S. Seminary St. at 7:27 p.m. on Oct. 7 after D. Christopher Bolin discovered his 1990 Toyota four-wheel drive with a silver toolbox in the back had been stolen.
Bolin told the officer he had just driven up to his home and left the vehicle running in the driveway while he was inside for about a minute.
When he came back out of his house, his truck was heading south on Seminary.
As police made the rounds that evening to each gas station in the Bloomfield area, they received a tip about Hill and made contact with a family member who told police Hill had just called them.
Hill said he was in jail in Jasper for public intoxication.
A check with the Dubois County Sheriff's Office revealed that Hill had been arrested for public intoxication - approximately 100 yards south of a wrecked 1990 Toyota truck - the same one stolen from Bolin.
Prior to the accident, dispatchers in Dubois County had received several calls about a vehicle that was speeding and had wrecked. Then they got calls about a man walking in the middle of the roadway.
According to the affidavit, Bloomfield Town Marshal Kenneth Tharp conducted interviews with Hill at the Dubois County Jail and Hill admitted to him that he had taken the truck. Hill also said he had been fighting with his girlfriend and had started drinking, found the truck near the funeral home, took it, then headed south toward Kentucky to visit family.
the first paragraph say's may, that is confusing because the way the rest of the article reads this just happened 3 day's (oct 7), prior to this articles date(oct 10).
It does say Oct. 7th.
This should say Oct 7th not May 7th. I believe it happen when Harvey was at the town council meeting on Tuesday.
