"Our defense played well tonight," Miner coach Brian Oliver said of shutting out the Cougars until the fourth quarter. "We came up with a lot of stops and forced a lot of turnovers tonight. We had a couple of nice drives, but we played with a short field the majority of the night, which helped us out.
"This was probably the best our offensive and defensive lines have played. They controlled the line of scrimmage and that led to our success."
The Miners drove 73 yards in 10 plays to score all the points they would need. Ty Scott, who had 51 yards rushing on eight carries, scored on a 15-yard run. Anthony Morin booted the first of three PATs as Linton-Stockton led 7-0.
In the second quarter, Jordan Gibbs came up with a fumble recover to set up another Miner TD. Morin capped off an eight-play, 80-yard march with a 1-yard scoring run.
Quarterback Bradley Thomas, who completed 6 of 10 passes for 85 yards, connected with Patrick Collison on a 30-yard scoring pass in third quarter as the Miners led 21-0.
Cullison had three receptions for 44 yards and Morin toted the ball nine times for 49 yards.
Patrick Ellis had seven total tackles while Morin was credited with three tackles for loss, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
Gibbs had six tackles and recovered two fumbles.
The Miners will play at Owen Valley at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13. They have added a "C" game at Edgewood at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 to conclude their season.
