Charles L. Starnes, 43, Linton, was arrested on a preliminary charge of intimidation -- a class D felony. The charge was filed against Starnes in Greene Superior Court on Monday.
Starnes was booked into Greene County Jail around 11:30 p.m. after police responded around 10:45 p.m. to a 911 call from a residence on SE D St. It was the second time they had been called to the same residence that night. Both calls were made by a female.
According to a probable cause affidavit written by LPD Cpl. Paul Clark, he and Officer Heath Murray spoke with the female who did not say she had been battered, but she wanted Starnes to stop yelling.
As they spoke, Starnes continued to yell at the woman as well as the officers.
Clark stated he told Starnes repeatedly to stop yelling but he did not. Finally Starnes stated that he did not have anything to lose, stood up and clenched his fists.
The officer wrote that Starnes' statements coupled with an aggressive tone and actions indicated he intended to make the officer afraid that he was going to be injured.
Starnes was transported to the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $4,000
I agree don't be a cop just to wear a uniform.
Oops posted the same msg twice....I had tried to post it but it said I hadn't activated my account for some reason so I tried again not realizing it had been posted already..Sorry!
Funny how you threaten a cop you go to jail, but yet my brother was jumped by three "men" and beaten so severly that he had to go to methodist hospital and not one of them "men" have been arrested!!!

So guys with good jobs and great families and nice houses dont abuse women?
Threaten a cop, go to jail. Threaten to kill a man whos not a cop ,then kill that man, dont go to jail.
And that's the real problem: the guy admits he has nothing to lose. If he had a good job and home life, a caring & supportive family, and hope for better things to come in the future, then he'd probably be a lot different person, one that doesn't have to beat women and the cops don't have to play babysitter to.
