Gambill wins at South Knox

Shakamak junior Drew Gambill captured first place in the Class A boys race at the South Knox cross country invitational Saturday.

Gambill was clocked at 16 minutes and 43 seconds. It was 30 seconds better than Alex Schoenstein of Castle, who won the Class AA boys race.

The Lakers were sixth in the team standings with 152 points.

Eastern Greene finished second in the Class A race with 78 points, six points behind winner Evansville Mater Dei. Linton-Stockton did not have enough runners to compile a team score.

Brody Martin of Eastern Greene placed sixth. His time was 18:04.

In the girls Class A competition, Shakamak was fourth in the team standings with 91 points. Linton-Stockton took sixth with 120. Eastern Greene did not have the required five runners to figure in the team standings.

Shakamak junior Casey Fougerousse ran second overall. Her time was 22:53.

Linton-Stockton's Kerri Waskom took 10th at 24:47.

In the middle school competition, Eastern Greene's Savanna Spice won the girls Class A race. The Lady Thunderbirds also were team champions. Shakamak was fourth and Linton-Stockton was sixth.

In the boys middle school race, Michael Hartman of Eastern Greene finished fourth.

The Thunderbirds were third in the team standings. Shakamak placed fourth and Linton-Stockton did not have enough runners to score as a team.

Way to go Casey, Drew, and all the Shakamak runners! You are all imporving each meet. Keep up the hard work. Everyone knows your SPORT is the other sports punishment. You make us proud.

Congrats to Macy Fidler. Great job. 6th grader finishng in the top 10 and being the top Linton Girls Junior High runner. Keep up the hardwork Macy!!
