The Linton-Stockton Junior Varsity volleyball team won two matches to claim first place at the White River Valley Spiker Classic at Switz City Saturday.
The Lady Miners, now 11-2, defeated Barr-Reeve 25-12, 24-25, 15-12 and White River Valley 25-19, 25-5.
"This was by far the best I have seen these girls play," said Linton-Stockton coach Jacqi Ward, whose Lady Miners improved to 12-2. "They played with a lot of heart and played like a team. It was definitely a total team effort. Each girl contributed 150 percent to the win.
"All of the girls worked really hard during both of these games. They came into the tournament with excitement and it showed on the floor and in their play."
Against Barr-Reeve, Kelsy Foglesong was 14 of 14 serving with one kill and six digs. Kayla Cox also was perfect on serve (12-for-12) and finished with four aces, 12 assists, six kills and 12 digs.
Alex Daluga missed just once in 13 attempts on serve. She collected three aces, two kills and seven digs. Kelsey Andis had nine digs and Sydney Lehman finished with eight kills, three digs and an ace on 3 of 5 serving.
Hali Murray contributed 12 assists, five kills and nine digs. She also was 10-for-10 on serve.
Jannae Jackson was 8 of 9 serving to go with one ace, seven kills and eight digs.
In the victory over WRV, Lehman was 17 of 17 serving with two aces, one kill, three digs and a block. Daluga made all 10 attempts on serve. She finished with two aces, three kills and four digs.
Andis had two digs and was 2.0 on serve receive (on a 3.0 scale). Cox was 7 of 7 serving and added two aces, seven assists, four kills, two digs and a block.
Foglesong was 2 of 2 serving with six kills and one block. She had four digs and was 2.2 on serve receive, with 3.0 being perfect.
Jackson was 8 of 9 serving with four aces, five kills and three digs. Murray had 10 assists and nine digs. She also was 1 of 2 on serve.
Dani Kent finished with two assists and a dig and Kayla Geatches was 2 of 2 serving.
The JV team also picked up a win overvisiting Eastern Greene 25-23, 25-13 Thursday night.
Hali Murray was 5 of 5 serving to go with nine assist, three kills and three digs. Jannae Jackson had two aces (5 of 7), five kills and four digs.
Kelsy Foglesong colelcted seven digs, two kills and one ace (12 of 14).
Kayla Cox was 10 of 12 on serve. She ended up with five aces, eight assists, three kills and four digs.
Kelsey Andis had four digs and Alex Daluga contributed eight digs, three kills and two aces on 6-fo4-7 serving.
Sydney Lehman was 3-for-4 on serve to go with four kills and three digs.
The JV and varsity will host North Central Monday.
