A warrant was issued Friday for the arrest of the man accused of taking it, Adam Gibson.
Preliminary charges of burglary, a class B felony, and theft, a class D felony, were filed against Gibson in Greene Circuit Court Thursday.
The charges stem from an investigation by Indiana State Police Trooper Brad Stille into a burglary which occurred on July 28 at the log home residence of Mick and Mary Joe Jackson. The Jacksons reported their front door had been kicked open and the only property missing was a jewelry box from an upstairs room.
On Sept. 5, Stille made contact with a detective in Lawrence County who had been working on a case involving a jewelry theft. Two people had been arrested and had a large amount of jewelry that had not been claimed. The "Mary Jo" charm bracelet was one of the items in the stash.
On Sept. 9, Stille picked the Jacksons up at their home and transported them to the Lawrence County Jail where they were able to recover the items that had been taken including the bracelet.
On Sept. 10, Stille interviewed two persons, one of which was Gibson and the other was his mother.
According to the probable cause affidavit written by Stille, the mother said she had gotten caught up in this mess with her son and did not realize he had been breaking into houses. But Gibson remembered the home even though he did not know anyone in that area.
Stille wrote that Gibson admitted kicking the front door open, going upstairs and taking the jewelry box. Gibson told the officer that he just went out driving around and found the log home where there didn't appear to be anybody home.
RDK read the story, his mother was home schooling him. as you can see "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND".
OMG! Where are the parents??!!
don't bother paying for protection....just put a a sign "Library" or "school" these dimwits won't show up.
My gosh. I cannot believe some people. A charm bracelet. A $3 gas station trinket. Wires off of cars. I think that I might need to invest in some "protection".
