Bloomfield runners win

The Bloomfield High School boys and girls cross country teams both were victorious at home Monday.

In the girls race, the Lady Cardinals beat Linton-Stockton 19-38. North Daviess and Loogootee had incomplete teams

Bloomfield has a winning total of 22 in the boys competition. Loogootee had 65 points, Linton-Stockton 72 and Union (Dugger) had 80. North Daviess did not have enough runners to compile a team score.

BHS frosh Julie Riggins and Sarah Miller were 1-2 in the girls race. Riggins covered the 3.1-mile course in 20 minutes, 28 seconds. Miller had a time of 22:06.

Kerri Waskom placed fifth, the top Linton-Stockton finisher. Her time was 23:37.

Michael Callison of North Daviess won the boys race at 15:59.

Andy Cochrane was the first BHS runner to cross the finish line. He was second overall with a time of 18:13

Jake Phegley of Union (Dugger) ran fourth (18:34). Brandon Beverly of Linton-Stockton was fifth overall (18:38).

Also for the Bloomfield girls, Avery Frederick was fourth, Paige Warren sixth, Megghan Bucher 12th, Linley Gremore 14th, Abby Vest 18th, Brittany Combs 19th and Emily Riggins ran 23rd.

Kelsey Overton was eighth for the Lady Miners. Also finishing for Linton-Stockton were Bre Alsman (11th), Mindy Kurtz (15th), Haley Rennick (17th), Cortney Astleford (21st) and Timna Bressgoff was 22nd.

Matt Hanauer finished third overall for Bloomfield. Also for the Cardinal boys, Gavin Thompson ran sixth, Kyle Smith seventh, Keaton Haywood 12th, R.J. Brown 14th, Austin Foster 15th, Robert Balsa 17th, Brandon Cantrell 19th, Andrew Bladen 20th, Taylor Helms 21st, Bryce Lindsey 24th, Bryce Helms 25th, Bryce McGlothlin 27th, Eric Barlow 28th, Ben Vandeventer 30th, Sean Hanauer 31st, Zac Query 33rd, Jordan Arford 39th and Kurt Schulte was 41st.

Brian Arnold placed 18th for Union (Dugger). Tyler Talpas was 35th, Caleb Hale 38th and Michael Talpas, Michael Abrams and Tel Sherman finished 43-45.

Ryan Bredeweg was the second finisher for Linton-Stockton. He placed 16th overall. Also for the Miners, Tyler Maxey took 22nd, Michael Howard was 36th and Skylar Vestal 40th.

What was the deal with the Bloomfield mother screaming at the opposing team runner and causing a scene?

She really showed herself.
