Linton wins two, loses two

Linton-Stockton won two and lost two matches at the Barr-Reeve High School volleyball invitational Saturday.

In the opener, the Lady Miners lost to Wes-Del 25-14, 25-15.

Jannae Jackson served two aces to go with four digs. Tricia Emmons had two kills and Savannah Mason (six) and Samantha Butt (two) combined for eight digs.

Senior Brittany Rehmel had four kills and a dig while classmate Izzy Carpenter had one ace, two assists, one kill and two digs.

Bradlea Beard had four assists and three digs while Megan Barnes added five kills and six digs.

The Lady Miners then defeated Princeton 25-10, 25-14 as Beard had nine assists, two aces and two kills. Barnes served seven aces to go with five kills and four digs.

Carpenter dished out six assists, one kill and one dig. Brittany Rehmel was credited with one kill while Emmons had one block and one kill. Mason added one dig.

Butt finished with three aces, one kill and two digs. Jackson had three aces and two digs.

Kelsy Foglesong ended up with two kills and Taneal Church added one kill and one block.

The Lady Miners held off Greencastle, winning by the score of 25-16, 23-25, 16-14.

Mason and Butt each finished with 10 digs. Barnes tallied four digs, Beard six, Jackson two and Rehmel one.

Barnes led with five aces, Butt four, Beard and Mason two apiece and Carpenter one.

Beard dished out 13 assists, Carpenter had eight, Butt two and Barnes was credited with one.

Barnes paced the winners with 12 kills. Rehmel added seven, Emmons six, Beard two and Carpenter one.

The Lady Miners came up short in their finale, losing to Randolph Southern 25-23, 27-29, 15-7 despite 21 assists by Beard. She also had four kills and six digs.

Carpenter had 10 assists, six digs and one kill. Rehmel (eight) and Emmons (three) combined for 11 kills. Barnes had a team-best 17 kills to go with two aces, two blocks and 10 digs.

Church collected two assists and two digs while Jackson added 11 digs.

Mason paced Linton-Stockton with 18 digs. The sophomore also had one kill. Butt contributed five kills and eight digs.

The Lady Miners (7-4) will play at Washington Tuesday.
