Rash Hardware has been housed at its 523 E. Main St. location since 1965, explained store manager Tony Rash. The business offers hardware and appliances as well as services electrical, plumbing and appliances.
It was in 1958 that his parents, Floyd and Betty Rash, started the family business at its original 101 East Main St. location.
"I've worked here for 40 years," Tony Rash explained, adding his father retired from the hardware business 10 years ago.
Community support has contributed to Rash Hardware's 50 years of business, he said.
"The local area and the surrounding area have been good to support to us," he said, noting its not uncommon to know his customers by name.
"I know the majority of them by name ... the second and third generation (customers)," he added.
Customers are an important part of your business, he said.
He also offered a bit of business advice.
"You have to diversify your business and take care of your customers."
So, does Rash Hardware have another 50 years in its future?
"Oh yes. We hope so. Maybe not with me, but maybe with the next generation," he quickly replied.
On Saturday, Rash Hardware will celebrate its 50 years of business by offering its customers hot dogs, chips and drinks in the store parking lot. There'll also be drawings for door prizes.
Floyd and Betty Rash are now retired but still reside in Jasonville.

This locally owned establishment is one of the best success stories in the history of Jasonville.
Congratulation's to the Rash family for that success and believing in the Jasonville community.
I would like to welcome and invite other entrepreneurs (young or old) to give Jasonville consideration for their business. It's very possible that you could have this same success!
Floyd, you and your family have been great. My family have ran for parts to your store, your people have came to repair things at the farm and we have always been happy with the service and price. I live in the "big city" now our hardware store is nothing like yours. And by the way keep up the rounding it off to the close 25 cents on the bill.
Enjoy retirement and Tony - keep up the same, one day we will read about your retirement.
