The accident occurred at 10:40 a.m. on State Road 59 North about one mile north of the Greene/Knox County line.
It involved Jennifer Rose, 36, of Elnora, the driver of 1991 a Honda Civic, and Bill Schroeder, 55, of Westphalia, the driver of a 1987 Volvo semi.
According to Greene County Sheriff Lt. Bryan Woodall, both vehicles were traveling northbound on State Road 59 when Rose failed to see Schroeder signaling a left turn and proceeded to pass him.
A witness, who was also traveling northbound and was stopped behind the semi, reported that he observed Rose's Honda Civic coming up behind them at a fast rate and that Rose swerved to miss him and hit the rear of the semi.
After the impact, Rose's vehicle continued northbound turning left and came to rest in a nearby bean field.
According to the report, Schroeder stated that he heard a noise and thought his trailer had came unhooked. He stopped and when he got out he found the debris and observed Rose's vehicle in the field.
Emergency responders found Rose in her vehicle and the shoulder strap of her seatbelt was latched but it was not clear if the lap belt was fastened or not but she did collapse the steering wheel, the report stated.
According to the report, Rose suffered a broken leg, arm and possible internal injuries. She also complained of neck and back pain.
Investigating Officer was Greene County Sheriff Lt. Bryan K. Woodall. Responding to the scene were Greene County Sheriff Deputy Terry Wade, Greene County Ambulance, Greene County Rescue, Sandborn Fire Department, Edwardsport Fire Department and Baker's Wrecker service.

Maybe stop trying to over analyze the story? The whole thing could have been avoided if the Honda driver had been paying attention to her driving and not hit the tractor trailer.
Most traffic accidents could be avoided if people paid attention to the road and their surroundings.
Maybe passing him on the right side?
I don't understand how the car was hit on the driver side, if she was passing him and he was turning left.
