He was born in Sullivan on Sept. 5, 1950 to Marcus Gentry and Mabel Mitchell Gentry.
He was a member of the Howsville Pentecostal Church, served in the National Guard for six years, and was employed by a private postal carrier.
Survivors include: his fiancé, Hope Bedwell; two sons, Kevin J. Gentry of Clay City and Timothy D. Gentry of Terre Haute; two brothers, John R. Gentry of Pleasantville and Edgar L Gentry of Columbus, Ga.; four sisters, Shirley Archer of Bicknell, Mandy Russell of Lyons, Mary Arnold of Cass, and Arline Goudbout of Pleasantville; two grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Rev. Larry Goodman officiating. Burial in the Dugger Cemetery with military graveside services by the Dugger American Legion.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
