Shakamak won three matches to capture first place at the Eastern Greene Round Robin volleyball tournament Saturday.

The Lady Lakers, now 4-1, defeated Medora 25-16, 25-12; Washington Catholic 26-24, 18-25, 15-10 and the host Lady Thunderbirds 26-24, 25-18.

"The girls had a solid three games," said Shakamak coach Jeri Morin. "Our serving was much better. Holli Moore had a great serving game against Eastern Greene when she had six aces.

"Jess (Gilbert), Kelsey (Farris) and Micayla (Crane) had some great plays at the net. It's nice that everyone contributed and put up some good stats. This is a fun weekend for us. It's always nice to bring home some hardware.

For the day, Amanda Gilbert had 50 assists, 10 digs, three kills and 13 points on 21 of 22 serving. Jess Gilbert contributed 25 kills, four blocks, four digs and made 23 of 26 serves (15 points).

Marki Collins missed just once in 25 attempts on serving and finished with 16 points, eight kills and 27 digs. Farris had 15 digs, 20 kills, one block and 25 points (30 of 36 serving).

Stacey Durham had four digs, two kills and made her only attempt on serve. Crane tallied three blocks, five digs, six kills and 10 points (14 of 16 serving).

Kylee Grissom had nine digs and Lacy Ashcraft added one kill.

Kristi Pearson was 2 of 2 serving with one point and five digs.
