A report issued by the Sheriff's Department states it is not releasing all of the details surrounding the incident but it knows the driver was injured before he took off into a wooded area.
GCSD Deputy Jeremy Inman reported the accident occurred on State Road 54 near Metal Technologies around 10:05 p.m.
Cory Radel, 25, of Holton, Mich., was turning into the business in a 1994 Freightliner semi-truck when the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck started to go around him but struck the rear of the semi in the process.
The driver of the semi went ahead and pulled into the driveway and at that time, was unaware that the accident had happened.
Both vehicles had been traveling east on the highway near Bloomfield.
When the driver of the pickup was approached by workers at the business, they noticed that he was injured.
Sometime before officers arrived on the scene, the driver fled and has not been located.
Deputy Inman was assisted by other personnel from the Greene County Sheriff's Department, Greene County Ambulance Service, Bloomfield Police Department, Bloomfield Fire Department, Lyons Police Department and Babcock Wrecker Service.
Now why did he run off and do that for?
