Worthington couple arrested

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

An ongoing drug investigation that was started in Linton by LPD Det. Josh Goodman led to the arrest of a Worthington couple early Wednesday.

Perry E. Shepard, 30, and Angie N. Shepard 24, were booked into the Greene County Jail without incident around 4:30 a.m. after members of the Greene County Drug Task Force served a warrant at the Shepard home located at 204 N. Dayton St. in Worthington.

Law enforcement officers participating included Task Force members from the Linton, Bloomfield and Worthington Police Departments and the Greene County Sheriff's Department with assistance from LPD K-9 Brody. Det. Goodman was the arresting officer.

According to an LPD report, the search of the residence led to the seizure of marijuana, money and firearms.

Preliminary charges against both Shepards include maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony, and possession of marijuana in an amount over 30 grams, also a class D felony.

Perry was also preliminarily charged with dealing marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school or public park, a class C felony.

Angie was also preliminarily charged with possession of paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.

The LPD report notes that additional charges are expected to be filed.

America's drug war has an affect in many americans when the drug war should be focused on corporate drugs, The only sensible solution is to quit destroying people's lives over Marijuana which grows naturally out of the ground, The real war should be on the corporate drugs that doctor's unwittingly push on kids...

Let's find out how many of you police officers that stormed the Shepard's with little regard for safety yet still drink alcohol when you get home because its legal, Let's see how many of the local citizens are on psychotropic drugs because the doctor said its ok and its legal, The fact is that the effects of Marijuana being illegal far outweighs the effects of it was not illegal...

If it takes building parks every 1000' to deter drug dealers, let the construction commence.

N Dayton street is with-in 1000 ft of a school and a park. In fact it ends at the park. Was raised in Worthington so I do know the lay out of the town.

keninman-it's the same up here in Gary. everything is within 1000 feet of a school or park. makes it very hard for tha hustlers to hustle.

Oops, I posted before adding GOOD JOB to our police officers and I am glad to have more drug dealers off the street though I imagine they will be quickly replaced. Keep up the good work.

Is there any place in Greene Co. that is not within 1000' of a school or park? Overuse of this statute degrades it's value and original intent.
