Concert to benefit Pregnancy Choices' efforts

Monday, August 4, 2008
A number of local performers have united to give a concert to raise funds and awareness for Pregnancy Choices, Greene County's resource for unplanned pregnancies.

"We have 10 different groups of contemporary Christian singers and musicians from the county who have joined together to be a voice for those who have no voice, the unborn," said Tambra McGill, concert organizer. "There's so much musical talent in this area and it's exciting to see them get together on behalf of Pregnancy Choices."

"The staff and volunteers at Pregnancy Choices know that an unplanned pregnancy can be a difficult thing to face," explained Michelle Brown, Pregnancy Choices director, "and unfortunately there is a lot of misleading information out there that says abortion is the only choice. Our goal is to provide the truth about all the options available and help with making the best decision for a woman and those close to her."

The benefit concert will be at 7 p.m., on August 19 at Linton First Christian Church, State Road 54 East, east of Wal-Mart. The concert is free and a love offering will be accepted.

With the assistance of PC volunteers, women are allowed to explore healthy pregnancy options. "We at PC are devoted to sharing the love of Jesus Christ by demonstrating that all life is valuable and every person is worthwhile and loved," Brown stressed.

Pregnancy Choices provides pregnancy tests, material aide such as baby clothes and diapers, an abstinence program, a post-abortion program and information on sexually transmitted diseases. All services and programs are free and confidential.

"We hope that this concert raises the community's awareness of what PC has to offer and encourages people to volunteer in addition to raising funds," McGill added. "The sanctity of life is a cause every Christian should support."
