Glenn L. Smith, 86, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at the Bloomington Hospital.

Born Dec. 29, 1921, in Bicknell, he was the son of Earnest L. and Amy (Townsend) Smith.

He worked for Stogsdill Grocery, and was a warehouseman at Wetterau for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Betty J. (Wood) Smith; one son, Stephen E. Smith and his wife Mary Uland of Solsberry; two daughters: Rita Heckard and her husband Bill, Vickie L. Davenport and her significant other Jeff Teague, all of Bloomington; grandchildren, Toby S. Smith, Andrew D. Smith, Christina Bell, Kathie Phillips, Travis R. Ashcraft, Billy Heckard, Casey Heckard, Matthew Southern, Rebecca Wheeler, Crystal L. Johnson, and Madison Taylor Powell; 15 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Wyatt Southern and his wife Lisa; and special caregiver, Terri Shepherd.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenna Southern; two brothers, Barton E. Smith and Charles L. Smith.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington with Rev. Joe Nelson officiating.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with burial at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
