Two hospitalized after ATV crashes into van near Lyons

Thursday, July 17, 2008
A rural Bloomfield man was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by Lifeline helicopter Thursday afternoon following a four-wheeler/van crash near Lyons.

Ryan S. Crane, Route 2, Bloomfield suffered facial trauma and a possible broken left ankle in the 3:11 p.m. mishap at the intersection of County Road 600W and County Road 225S. A passenger on the 2007 Arctic Cat ATV, Miriah Eddleman, 18, was transported to Bloomington Hospital by Greene County Ambulance for treatment of a possible brokenleft, according to a report filed by Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Aaron Smith.

No condition reports were immediately available.

Crane was traveling east on CR. 225S and made a hard left turn onto CR. 600W in front of a 2000 Chevrolet mini-van driven by Rebecca Spiker, 33, of Greenfield, according to Smith.

Assisting at the scene were GCSD deputy Skylar Pittman, Indiana Conservation Officer Gregg Swanson, personnel from the Lyons Fire Department, Lyons Police Department and the Grant-Fairplay Township Fire Department from Switz City.
