The closure will take place for a resurfacing and pipe replacement contract that was awarded during the April 2 letting. The $1.3 million dollar contract was awarded to Dave O'Mara Contractor of North Vernon.
There will be three closures for this project. The first closure will begin on Monday at 7 a.m. and will reopen to through traffic Friday, July 18 at 5:00 p.m., according to Cher Goodwin, who serves as public information officer for INDOT.
The official detour will re-route motorists using SR 45 and SR 54.
The second closure will begin the following Monday, July 21 at 7 a.m. and will be opened to traffic on Friday, July 25 at 5 p.m.
The third and final closure will take place beginning Monday, July 28 at 7 a.m. and open to traffic on Friday, August 1 at 5 p.m.
Local traffic will have access to the point of closure, however; through traffic will not be allowed. Residents and businesses along the corridor will have access to their driveway at all times during construction, Goodwin explained.
"Contractor's crews will be installing two drainage pipe structures under SR 58 as well as correcting four slides throughout the project limits. Once those operations are complete, crews will then begin milling and paving the roadway. During the milling and paving operations, one lane will be maintained at all times by flag persons. Delays are to be expected during this time. The overall contract completion date for this project is October 2008," she said.
