Betty J. Carlton, 41, of Bloomfield, was arrested early Monday by Bloomfield Officer Shane Smith and now faces charges of public nudity -- a C misdemeanor, battery on a law enforcement officer resulting in bodily injury --a D felony, and resisting law enforcement-- an A misdemeanor.
Bloomfield Town Marshal Kenny Tharp explained, "A (9-1-1) call came in from a lady who was requesting help. When Officer Shane Smith arrived he was met at the door by a nude, combative female. A physical altercation then incurred ... and she was taken into custody and incarcerated."
According to the affidavit filed in Greene County Circuit Court on Monday, at one point during the incident Carlton grabbed Officer Smith, attempted to flee and was eventually tasered in order to be subdued.
The incident occurred at 208 S. Seminary Street around 1:45 a.m. Smith was assisted by Greene County Sheriff Deputy Chris McDonald and Worthington Officer Don Richardson.
Carlton is being held at the Greene County Jail on a $1,500 bond. Her initial court appearance is at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Greene County Circuit Court.

the sad part is its hard to tell now a days if someone has a mental problem or if they are on drugs. As for this lady she is my relation she has had a hard life. besides mental illness she is also mentally challanged. Thanks to everyone for their prayers. We the family are worried to death. If anyone knows her where abouts please have her contact any of us.
researchbeforeyoucomment I don't read where anyone is "bashing police" in this thread. Questioning a judgement call and the proper handlng of this incident is hardly "bashing police" in my opinion.
I hope the lady is okay and I pray for the family. I know you are scared and you do have a lot of people praying for her safe return. After having said that now I would like to add. You know I was thinking if police officers were smart they would all find a new line of work. I can't imagine why they would open themselves up to nothing but complaints and no respect. It seems to some people all they want to do is blame Law enforcement. Don't place the blame on those that have known the lady her whole life or close friends. Another thing when she bonded out of jail did she walk out or did someone come and pick her up? If she was picked up and someone bonded her out. I am sure they were informed of the reason for her arrest. Why didn't they take her to the hospital? You would think that the people that are around her whould know she was having problems. The police deal with strange people all the time and they wouldn't know if that was the normal behavior for her or not. I have a sister that is bi-polar and she has had a few run ends with law enforcement and medics. We didn't expect the police to make a diagnosis or send her to a mental institution or hospital. It isn't there job. I am sure if they had done that someone would of let them know they aren't doctors and shouldn't determine her state of mind. And probably sued the police department for the hospital bill. We as a family should intervene. I would be ashamed to blame those that put their lives on the line everyday while on duty or off to save your life, rescue your family member, pet or just come to your house cause you heard a noise late at night and you are scared. I realize sometimes they may not act the way the public thinks they should. But,you are not in the situation they are in at the time they make a decision. To those who trash police why don't you stop your complaining and go apply for a police job. Maybe you could do a better job!!!!
This woman is missing now. Last seen wading in water by the Elliston bridge. It makes me wonder. Was she ever taken to the Bloomington Hospital for a mental examination? If not, and the police just let her out of jail on bail on her own recognisance, somebody could be in some really BIG trouble. If the police missed an opportunity to get this woman some help, and she ends up drowned, it will be a shame.
if it took that many cops to take down a naked half crazed lady,, think what would have happened had she been dressed.. she needed hospital help i think , not tasered,, but thats greene tucky,
Give me a break, just because there's a naked woman running wild in Bloomfield doesn't mean it's worth the drive.
Analyze it all you want, but The Raven is probably correct in his early comment. The Eggman's original question is answered in The Headline....
Eggman, for your information this Worthington Police Officer was off duty and at the Sheriff's Department visiting his wife, who works there. That I am sure is what all of the Officer's do, help each other whether they are on duty or off duty. P.S. he was not in his police car either. He rode to the scene with the County Officer.
I wouldn't have wanted to wrestle around with a naked woman either, wait...nevermind
This isn't the first time I've questioned why an officer from another town has responded to a call in Bloomfield. I just don't understand why they feel the need to respond to calls outside of their jurisdiction. I understand they may be needed in extreme circumstances, but this call, and many others I've read, don't seem to fit the need for outside officers to be called in. I'd say the officer from the BPD and the officer from the GCSD were more than capable of handling the call on their own.
I think that it is easy for someone who is not in the position of a police officer to think excessive force was used, but when you have to deal with what they do every day I'm sure you would rather be safe than sorry too. I think the guys did just what they had to do.
That is just nasty! Poor guys!
depends on how hard she grabbed
Sounds to me like she wanted to ride in Bloomfield's new police car! Wonder if she had clothes on before they put her in the car. Might have to disinfect!
Nudity is a great way to catch a cough-due-to-cold.
Anyone else find the tasering a bit excessive force? Couldn't these two "trained" police officers subdue this woman with out tasering? Another point, sounds like she needed to be taken to the pshyciatric ward at bloomington...NOT jail... oh well I guess, our court & county need the money right!
Hmm,tell her to put her clothes on instead of tasering the naked lady.Theres more to this story
EggMan, I think the answer to your question is in the headline to this article.
Why was a police officer from Worthington responding to this call?
Holy (explelative)!
sounds off the hizook.
Yikes!!
