The Friends of the Bloomfield -Eastern Greene County Public Library will hold a "Christmas In July" book sale on Thursday, July 3rd from 10 am till 3 pm. Christmas videos, Christmas stories for children, holiday food and & craft magazines, holiday-theme romances & mysteries and Christmas music on CDs will be featured. There also will be a nice selection of other books, fiction and nonfiction for adults and children. The sale will be held in the community room at the main library, 125 S. Franklin St., Bloomfield.
Summer Concert
A free summer concert will he held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Eastern Greene County Public Library. The show will feature 18th century songs and duets.
VBS at Bloomfield First Baptist
Bloomfield First Baptist Church will host a Vacation Bible School from 6 - 8:40 p.m. June 29 - July 3 at the Bloomfield First Baptist Church located at 500 Lincoln Drive. VBS kick-off on June 29 will feature Professor Steve's Amazing World of Science program emphasizing Bible lessons and spectacular science experiments. Registration on June 29 at 5:30 p.m.
Community Outreach in Jasonville
Representatives from several churches in the Jasonville area are banding together on Saturday afternoon for a community outreach. The event will feature plenty of Christian and Gospel music, free food, cotton candy, snow cones and bottle water. It all starts at 5 p.m. and will be held in the parking lot on Main Street where the former Rite Aid store was located. Several live bands will be performing. This is a multi-church non-denominational event sponsored by "The Street Warriors".
HIV Testing
Free, confidential HIV testing will be offered from 1 - 3 p.m. July 10 at the Greene County Health Department. Results in 20 minutes. Scheduled appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. LSHS Registration for Linton-Stockton High School students is from 8:30 a.m. - noon and 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. Aug.. 4 in the high school media center. Staff will break for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. You may complete and/or change your demographic information on-line by logging into your Harmony account at www.lssc.k12.in. Freedom Festival patriotic prayer service
Linton Assembly of God is hosting a special patriotic service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. There will be a strong "God and Country" theme, featuring a variety of patriotic presentations in music and media. The focus will be thanking those veterans who have served our nation in the armed forces, and offering prayer for current soldiers serving the nation (especially those of the 151st infantry from the Linton area). Pearson-Love reunion
The Pearson-Love reunion will be July 20 at the Worthington Park. There will be a pitch-in dinner at 1 p.m., and a White Elephant sale will be after dinner to help fund the reunion for next year. Bring an item from home that you would like to auction.

Registration for Linton-Stockton Junior High will be July 30 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1-6 p.m. in the new junior high media center. Free Screening Echocardiograms
Free diagnostic screening echocardiograms will be offered to local incoming freshmen or any other high school student in the county or in Dugger that has not received one in the past. The screening is scheduled from 2 - 7 p.m. on July 11 on the second floor of the Greene County General Hospital. A copy of the required consent form can be picked up at the Greene County Daily World, Greene County Ambulance Office of the Hospital Administrator's Office.

Copies of the 2008 Freedom Festival Parade will be available on DVD. Linton-Stockton High School graduate, Jon Hensley has put together a film and audio crew, and will be producing copies of this year's parade that will be available for purchase by the general public. The Linton Public Library has begun its summer hours. The library is now open from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday closing hours stay the same as regularly scheduled, but open at 9:30.

Switz City Volunteer Fire Department
The Switz City Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a fundraising program to raise money for needed equipment. GED testing
GED testing for the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is given on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month at the Greene County Community Learning Center housed at White River Valley High School. Those wishing to take the exam must register in person, one week prior to the exam and present three pieces of ID including one photo ID. The Linton-Stockton High School classes of 1955 and 1956 will have a joint reunion Aug. 8 with a potluck picnic at the home of Shelby Padgett Meurer (Class of 1956).
