A special account has been set up at the First Financial Bank in Worthington to accept donations to benefit flood victims in the Worthington area.
Anyone who would like to contribute can make a deposit into the Town of Worthington-Flood Victims account.

Flood kits available
The Greene County Salvation Army will have flood kits available for local flood victims on Monday and Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. and June 21 from 8 a.m. to noon at 1049 NE A St. in Linton. Parking for Bloomfield banquet
Because of school construction and a shoot-out tournament at the Bloomfield school, parking may be at a premium for the Bloomfield Alumni Banquet on Saturday. The lots available are the west side of the cafeteria and the east side of the junior high, both entered from Spring Street and the parking lot on the south side of the elementary on South Street. There is an elevator available. Signs will point the way to the entrances from any parking lot.
Library to be closed today
The Linton Public Library will be closed to the public June 20 for minor repairs. It will reopen each following Saturday. Items checked out may still be placed in the book drop and will be checked in.
Memory Makers Quilt Guild

Fish fry in Lyons
The Lyons Senior Citizen's Center will conduct a fish fry featuring Johnny Davidson's Fish from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 22. Advanced tickets for a fish dinner are $7.50 for adults and $4.50 for children. At the door, adult tickets are $8 and children $5. A fish sandwich is $5. Tickets can be purchased at the center.
Switz City yard sales canceled
The Switz City Volunteer Fire Department's annual community yard sale set for today has been canceled because of the flooding.
Scotland Community Yard Sale
The Scotland Community Yard Sale will be from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. today. The event includes 13 yard sales. Maps will be available at the fire station. Event also includes breakfast at the fire station from 7 - 10 a.m., a bake sale and the Scotland Full Gospel Church serving food at fellowship hall.
Linton Mini 4-H to meet
Linton Mini 4-H will meet June 29 from 2-4 p.m. at Jack & Jill Daycare, 6th & E Sts. NW in Linton. Mini 4-H is open to youth entering kindergarten through second grade.

HomeTown Competitiveness retreat
The Greene County Foundation will host a HomeTown Competitiveness Opportunity retreat June 17 at 6 p.m. at the Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds. Anyone interested in Greene County's future is encouraged to attend. Over 700 community members completed surveys, and the findings will be announced that this time.
Chapel Fair set for today
The Chapel Fair, sponsored by Greene County Chapel United Methodist Church, will be today. A bake sale of homemade pies, cakes, etc., will commence at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served offering fish sandwiches, chili dogs, plus desserts. All proceeds will be used to sponsor mission programs of the church.
Linton-Stockton class of 1968
The Linton-Stockton High School class of 1968 will have its 40-year class reunion July 5 at the Old Bank Restaurant. There will be a meet and greet social hour starting at 6 p.m. with hours 'dourves, followed by a class picture around 7 p.m. A buffet meal will follow the class picture. Music from the 1960's will play throughout the evening. Friends of the class are welcome to stop in to visit after 8:30. Reservations need to be made by June 25 in order to arrange for the food. Linton Elks 866 will host "Lil 500" June 21 with registration at 9:30 a.m. and qualifications for the race at 11 a.m. Bring your power wheels. Summer hours at Linton Library
The Linton Public Library has begun its summer hours. The library is now open from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday closing hours stay the same as regularly scheduled, but open at 9:30.
VBS at Bloomfield First Baptist
Bloomfield First Baptist Church will hold VBS from 6 - 8:40 p.m. June 29 - July 3 at the Bloomfield First Baptist Church located at 500 Lincoln Drive. VBS for four churches
Four churches are hosting God's Big Backyard VBS on June 23-26 from 9-11:30 a.m. every morning at First United Methodist Church. Daily registration is 8:30-9 a.m. Three year olds (by June 1 and potty trained) through those entering 6th grade are welcome. There will be a musical program Thursday at 11:30 for the entire family to enjoy followed by a cook-out for all. The Switz City Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a fundraising program to raise money for needed equipment. Women's group to meet
A women's group will be held at the Worthington Assembly of God at 9 :30 a.m. on Sundays during the summer. During the school season, the group will meet from 10 a.m. - noon on the fourth Tuesday of each month. All women are welcome.

Applications available for Miss Greene County contest
The 2008 Miss Greene County queen contest will be held on June 21 and applications may be picked up at the Extension Office. Applications will need to be turned back in by June 14. Kids Count fundraiser
A Kids Count fundraiser -- Hot Wheels 2008 (Truck Touch) -- will be June 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eastern Greene Middle School lower parking lot. Admission is $2, and children under 1 free. GED testing
GED testing for the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is given on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month at the Greene County Community Learning Center housed at White River Valley High School. Those wishing to take the exam must register in person, one week prior to the exam and present three pieces of ID including one photo ID. The Linton-Stockton High School classes of 1955 and 1956 will have a joint reunion Aug. 8 with a potluck picnic at the home of Shelby Padgett Meurer (Class of 1956). The Greene County Humane Society is asking for donations of small, square bales of good grass hay for three nearly-starved horses which were rescued last week. These are very thin, needy horses.
