| By Anna Rochelle TETANUS SHOTS: Greene County Public Health Nurse Marilyn Crays drove a lot of miles to get to Worthington Tuesday afternoon to give Tom Wall and about 70 other people a tetanus shot. The shots were administered free by the Greene County Health Department to people who had come into contact with floodwater and had not had a shot in the last ten years. |
Public Health Nurse Marilyn Crays of the Greene County Health Department is logging a lot of miles this week.
On Tuesday afternoon she drove the long way around to get to Worthington where she administered about 70 tetanus shots.
More were needed.
After replenishing her supplies, she returned Wednesday to give a few more shots.
From the Health Department's office in Bloomfield, Crays has also made it to Jasonville where she has provided tetanus shots to sandbaggers and those people who are working on the water main break.
The Health Department has remained open throughout the week and several emergency workers have stopped in to the office to get a shot.
At times when the power supply is off in the Bloomfield community, the Health Department continues to function -- fueled by an emergency generator. Their office is located in the Courthouse Annex.
The Health Department recommends that anyone who has come into contact with floodwater and has not updated their tetanus protection within the last ten years get a tetanus shot.
The Health Department hopes to schedule more clinic times, like the ones in Worthington, in other locations. They will be announced later.
