Shakamak pounded out 11 hits and senior Heather Gilbert tossed a shutout as the Lady Laker softball team defeated host Terre Haute South 7-0 in a high school softball game Friday.
The victory was the 14th victory in 18 games for the Lady Lakers.
"This was a good win for us," said Shakamak coach Paige Wolf. "I was glad to get the game in, especially with the way the weather has been."
Gilbert struck out seven and walked one. She scattered five hits as her record improved to 11-3.
"Heather threw another really good game," said Wolf. "She was able to change her speeds and throw their hitters off a little bit.
"Our defense did not have any errors and made some nice plays behind Heather. Annie (Strahla) had a couple of really good plays at short and Casey (Fougerousse) had an over the shoulder catch in center."
Strahla had a home run and single. The senior scored twice and had one RBI on the solo shot.
"Annie hit her second home run of the season," said Wolf. "She really hit it well over the left-field fence."
Fougerousse was 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Gilbert aided her own cause with two hits, including a double.
Sophomore Kristi Pearson had a hit and Erin Wilson added a single and one run.
Amanda Gilbert was credited with two hits and scored once while Marki Collins picked up two RBIs on ground outs.
"We looked good at the plate," said Wolf. "Everybody contributed up and down the line-up.
The Lady Lakers are scheduled to conclude the regular season at 5 p.m. Monday with a doubleheader against visiting Terre Haute North and a Tri-River Conference game at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Central.
