Schedules updated

Eastern Greene's baseball game with Orleans has been canceled as well as the Lady Thunderbird softball game against Eminence.

The softball team's game against visiting Union (Dugger) has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday.

The White River Valley at Linton-Stockton baseball game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14.

The Shakamak at Bloomfield baseball game also will be make up Wednesday, May 14. The JV game will start at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity game to follow at 7 p.m.

White River Valley's softball team has dropped out of Saturday's Evansville Central Invitational because of lack of players.

Linton-Stockton and Southridge will be participating in a softball tournament at Evansville Central Saturday.

A round-robin format will be used as each team will play three games. Start times have not yet been announced.

Shakamak will play Friday at Terre Haute South in a high school softball game that was called off April 12. It will be just a single game compared to the originally scheduled double dip.

The Union (Dugger) at North Central baseball game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21. It was listed at an earlier date on some schedules.

The Barr-Reeve at Bloomfield girls tennis match was rained out Wednesday and has been rescheduled fro 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 12.

It will be senior night and Abbie Humerickhouse, Nikkole Thombleson and Courtney Dallmier will be honored.

Memorial Weekend Softball Tourney

There will be coed slowpitch softball tournament May 23-26 at the FOP Field in Linton.

Teams will consist of seven men and three women. Entry fee will be $150 per team. The tournament will be limited to the first 16 teams.

Booster meeting May 14

The Bloomfield Bigger Booster Club meeting originally scheduled for May 7 has been moved to Wednesday, May 14 at 6 p.m. in the commons area in Bloomfield Jr/Sr. High School.

This meeting is for all members and prospective members.

Softball sign-ups

The Linton Church League Softball Association is now taking sign-ups for teams interested in playing softball in the League this year.

If your church is interested in entering a team in this summer's league, contact Michael Riggleman at 847-9611 or 798-6379.

Entry deadline is Friday, May 23.

The first league games will start on Monday, June 2.

Coed tournament

A coed softball tournament has been scheduled for May 31 and June 1 at Hanna Field in Jasonville.

Entry fee is $150. This event is a fund raiser for the 10U Clovers softball travel team.

Clovers tryouts, fundraiser

The Greene County Clovers 8-and-under travel softball team will be holding its inaugural tryouts Sunday, May 11 at the White River Valley High School softball diamond.

Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and will immediately be followed with tryouts at 2 p.m. Any girl age 8 or under as of January 1, 2008 is invited to attend.

Also, the Greene County Clovers 10-and-under travel softball team will sponsor a coed tournament Saturday, May 31.

Entry fee is $150.

The Clovers 10U team is trying to raise money for a trip to the nationals in Missouri.

Junior high awards May 22

Bloomfield will honor its junior high fall, winter, and spring sports athletes at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 22 in the junior/senior high school cafeteria.

Adult slow-pitch tournament

The Shakamak Youth League will be hosting an adult co-ed slow pitch softball tourney Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11 (if needed). Participants must be 16 years of age or older. Cost is $150 per team.

Format will be seven men and three women and the tourney will be double elimination.

Daily World encourages

results to be submitted

The sports department of the Greene County Daily World encourages all area spring sports coached to submit your results.

The results must include first and last names of your participants. If sending a copy of a track book, a roster must be included to be able to correctly identify those who placed. The Daily World cannot print information without first and last names.

Photos and identification and season information and game results can be send by e-mail to hargisbj@yahoo.com or tdavid@gcdailyworld.com. Please send information as the regular text of an e-mail and not as an attachment.

The information also can be faxed to (812) 847-9513.

Junior high and elementary results will be inserted in the Daily World as space permits. High school results will take precedence.

The information mailed to Greene County Daily World, c/o sports department, 79 S. Main St., Linton, IN 47441 or they can be dropped off daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Bass Tournaments at Shakamak

Shakamak State Park will be holding bass fishing tournaments throughout 2008 that are open to the public.

There will be open team jackpots. Cost is $25 per team per event.

There will be a 10-fish limit. Slot limit applies, including under 12 inches or over 15.

The next tournament is Friday, May 23. Participants must register at Kickapoo ramp by 6:45 p.m. with competition set to begin at 7 p.m.

Other dates include Friday, June 6; Friday, July 20; Friday, July 11; Friday, Aug. 1; Friday, Aug. 22; Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 27.

The Sept. 27 event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m., with registration deadline of 7:45 a.m. The Friday events all begin at 7 p.m. with a registration deadline of 6:45 p.m.
