Fish defeated Karen Strueh, 3,524 to 2,666. Out of the total votes cast county-wide, the vote count for Fish represents 56.93 percent of the total and the vote count for Strueh represents 43.97 percent.
As the returns came in, Fish's reaction was to wait until the final results were announced before he breathed a sigh of relief.
"This is a big win for me and I'm very happy. I'm just very pleased with the turnout today and I'm looking forward to November," said Fish.
Fish praised the citizens of Greene County for the high turnouts across all precincts.
"I want to thank everybody who helped me during the campaign and I want to thank all of the voters that came out in high numbers," said Fish.
As the Democrat candidate, Fish will now face Dena Benham-Martin when voters go to the polls again in November. Benham-Martin defeated David Powell to become the Republican Party's candidate for Greene Superior Court Judge.
On Tuesday evening, Fish said he wanted to thank his opponent.
"I want to thank Karen Strueh for running a good, clean race. Now I look forward to a good race with Mrs. Benham-Martin and I wish her the best," said Fish.
The winner of the race in the General Election will step into the place of Greene Superior Court Judge David Holt who, earlier this year, announced his intention to retire at the end of his current term.
"I hope to bring the fairness, enthusiasm and the respectful manner in which I treat my clients to the bench. I look forward to putting my experience to work for the citizens as the next Greene Superior Court Judge," said Fish.
A life-long resident of Greene County, Fish graduated from Shakamak High School where he was active in Boy Scouts and received the rank of Eagle Scout. From 1993-99, he served active duty in the U.S. Army Reserves and in 1998, he received the award of Battalion Soldier of the Year.
Fish graduated from Indiana State University with degrees in Criminology and Political Science and received his law degree from Valparaiso University.
He is a member of the Greene County Bar Association and has served one term as its president. He currently practices law in Worthington where he has been serving clients for six years handling criminal, family law, property and general civil litigation work. He's also the attorney for the Town of Worthington and serves as a Greene County Public Defender.
