Polls opened at 6 a.m. with few if any glitches, according to Marjorie Cullison, who is a deputy in the Greene County Voter Registration office.
"We've had nothing to speak of (in the way of problems)," Cullison told the Greene County Daily World about 8:30 a.m.
There was one minor problem last night when an electronic voting machine wasn't operating correctly in the "test mode", but when it was activated Tuesday morning it was functioning properly, Cullison said.
Cullison said she was anxious to "see some numbers" on turnout as the day progresses, but she anticipates this will be a very heavy day of voting before the polls close at 6 p.m.
An early report about 8:45 a.m. from one Bloomfield precinct showed that voting was termed moderate, but steady.
"It's been moderate at best. It's been fairly steady, but it hasn't been heavy," said Sandi Huffman, a poll worker in Richland 4 precinct which is voting at the Richland-Taylor Fire Station in Bloomfield.

About an hour later, Huffman reported that there has been a "steady stream" of voters showing up to cast ballots.
About 11 a.m., Gloria Klass, who's worked at the polls in Worthington (Jefferson 1 and 2) for many years, said there had been no lulls.
She added, "There's been a steady stream of people coming in all morning. If this keeps up, this is going to be a heavy turnout."
Åbout noon, Cullison said all was going smoothly.
"Everything seems to be going quite well. What feedback we have been having from the polls says they are having good turnout today," Cullison noted. "Right now, they are going at about 30 percent and some of them are going much better than that."

Aside from the hotly-contest U.S. Presidential race between Democrat contenders Sens. Hilary Clinton and Brack Obama, there are plenty of local races that should interest voters.
Local voters will be picking their party nominees for Superior Court Judge, two county commissioners, three county council members, a county treasurer, county surveyor, county precinct committeemen, delegates to the political party conventions, Indiana governor, state representatives and state senators.
Cullison said pre-election interest in the races appears to be high -- based on absentee voting numbers.
At the close of business on Monday -- the last day to cast an absentee ballot -- 1,395 ballots had been cast. That includes 923 by Democrats and 472 by Republicans.
Cullison said the last two days 120 absentees were cast in the Clerk's office.
The absentee total includes 155 voters who took advantage of two satellite voting days in mid-
April at off-site voting locations in Linton and Little Cincinnati.
The last presidential Primary Election in 2004 attracted just 428 individuals who cast an absentee ballot, Cullison pointed out.
Statewide, the number of absentees cast is also up with 146,019 Democrats, 45,181 Republicans and 271 listed as other political party, according to the Indiana Secretary of State's office.
