Tally had doubled and advanced to third on a sacrifice by Tasha Baker. Fox's bunt was officially scored a fielder's choice as she picked up the game-winning RBI.
"She was a little nervous," WRV coach Ruan Fougerousse said of Fox. "I was really proud of a freshman to put down a bunt to score the go-ahead run in that situation.
"I told her the game plan. I let her hit away on the first pitch even though they assumed we were going to squeeze. We just had the safety squeeze on because I was afraid they would pitch out. She swung and missed on the first pitch, but safely got the next one down. She is a freshman and still learning."
Fougerousse, whose Lady Wolverines improved to 9-5, said they were a little sluggish.
Stephanie Fougerousse, who went 2-for-3 with a double, got a base hit in the first inning and advanced into scoring position.
Rachel Mowery hit the ball hard to center, but Owen Valley outfielder misplayed it into an error, which allowed Fougerousse to score and put the Lady Wolverines ahead 1-0.
Kaci Fulk doubled in three at bats, like Tally. Miranda Dupire also went 1-for-3.
Fougerousse struck out 18 and walked just one as she raised her record to 9-5."The mound was kind of funky and Stephanie had trouble adjusting to the first batter," said Ruan, her mother. "After she gave up the walk on four pitches to the first batter, she settled down and threw a good game.
"The only run she allowed was in the third when we had three errors."
Fougerousse commended Mowery for a diving catch in foul territory at third base.
"Rachel made a really nice play," said Fougerousse. "She caught the ball on a bunt attempt. We tease the girls about making those plays. DeLaney (Sanders) has two diving catches and now Rachel has one.
"If you don't catch those, they usually come back and haunt you. It always seem like the batter gets a hit if you give them a second chance."
The Lady Wolverines will play at Union (Dugger) in a conference game today. They will entertain Loogootee Thursday.
WRV will join Linton-Stockton, Southridge and host Evansville Central in a round-robin tournament Saturday.
"We had lost the Brown County and Bloomington North games to weather and were not playing in the Clay City tournament this year," she said. "We were down about four games and have been trying to pick up some games without much luck.
"But I am happy about getting into this tournament. We could lose all of those games, but it will help us in our preparation for the sectional."
