President Cynthia Ferguson explained that the upcoming town-wide yard sales will be held in conjunction with a Business Expo.
The event is slated for June 7.
"We're going to coordinate an expo with the yard sales. Our goal is to have 4,000 flyers put in the Greene County Daily World. That will give people a list of businesses participating," Ferguson said.
Interested parties can sign up at www.bloomfieldcoc.com or by filling out the registration that will be in the newspaper at a later date, she noted.
The Business Expo on the Square is an opportunity for local businesses to be showcased, Ferguson said. So far, two business have signed up.
Each person visiting all of the business vendors at the expo will have the opportunity to win a door prize, she added.
Volunteers are still needed for the June 7 event.
The Harvey Hannah Scholarship was also discussed.
The scholarship will be awarded to a Bloomfield High School senior May 19 at the annual Rotary Club Honors Night, explained Randall Brown, a chamber and rotary club member.
The scholarship will total $500, he noted. In the past, it has only been $250 but this year an anonymous donor gave an additional $250.
There are four or five candidates to choose from, he said.
If anyone is interested in establishing a scholarship in the future, contact Brown at 384-9286.
"Some people want to do that and they just don't know how," he added.
In other business:
* The chamber now has 63 members.
* Town-wide clean up has been set for June 28.
