Delta Theta Tau Alumni

Delta Theta Tau Alumni will host a spring tea luncheon at noon April 3 at the home of Betty Edwards.

Evangelist at Blessed Hope

Blessed Hope Baptist Church is hosting evangelist Phil Gabbard to services on Sunday, April 6. Gabbard is a preacher with a special talent with chalk art.

Lawrence County Rock Club

The Lawrence County Rock Club will meet at 7 p.m. on April 5 at the Company Concourse at 1402 H St. in Bedford.

Clothing giveaway

Liberty Church of Christ in Hendricksville will hold a Spring Clothing Giveaway from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on April 19. Free Lunch and breakfast will be served.

Coalmont Baptist Church

The Coalmont Baptist Church will hold a special service at 7 p.m. on Friday. Speaker will be Ron Zimmerman and music provided by Altared. This is a World Vision for Hungry Children event.

Plant auction

On April 26, the Worthington Garden Club invites you to fill your garden with healthy, well-established plants donated by experienced gardeners. Come to the Worthington Park from 10 a.m. - noon to ask advice, and enjoy free food as you bid on the newest additions to your landscape. Cub Scout Pack 468 Fundraiser

Bloomfield Cub Scout Pack 468 will have its annual Buddy Bake at 7 p.m. on March 31 at First Baptist Church in Bloomfield. The Buddy Bake is an annual fundraiser for Pack 468. Scouts, with the help of an adult Buddy, will bake a variety of goodies that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. The public is welcome. Vote early in April

Early voting will be available at the Linton National Guard Armory and Center Township Fire Department in April. The voting in Linton will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on April 12, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Center Township Fire Department on April 19. Anyone who is registered may vote during this time. Please provide government issued picture ID when you come to the polling site. For more information call 384-2015.

Basket bingo

The Linton Boys Baseball Youth League will host a basket bingo March 31 at the Roy Clark Community Building. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. Concessions will be available. Tickets are $10. There will be an early bird basket drawing for tickets purchased before March 31. For tickets call D'Lee Sipes at 847-1833 or Mary Witty at 847-4134.

Eastern School Board of Trustees

The Eastern Greene School Board of Trustees will meet in executive session at 11 a.m. on April 2. The executive session will be followed by a work session at 1 p.m. The board will hold a second executive session at 3 p.m. Both executive sessions will be at the central office and the work session will be held in room 241 at the Eastern Greene High School.

Fifth Sunday Sing

A Fifth Sunday Sing will be at Walnut Grove Church at 2 p.m. on March 30.

Greene County Human Society

The Greene County Humane Society is changing the location of its regular monthly meetings to the Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds, beginning with the April 15 meeting. The meetings will continue to be on the third Tuesday of each month, with executive sessions beginning at 6 p.m. and members meeting at 7 p.m. The only exception will be in July, when the fairgrounds is not available. The July meeting will be at Pizza City in Linton.

Book sale scheduled

Under the sponsorship of The Friends of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library, teen volunteers will host a book sale March 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the library's community room, 125 S. Franklin Street, Bloomfield. All proceeds from the sale will be used to improve the Teen Room at the library. There will be a large selection of fiction and non-fiction for children and adults. Jigsaw puzzles, magazines and VCR tapes will also be for sale. Most paperback books are 25 cents, and most hardbacks 50 cents.

Some premium and collectible books are priced slightly higher. For more information call 384-4125.

LSHS Class of 1988

The Linton-Stockton High School Class of 1988 is currently making preparations for its upcoming 20-year class reunion. Invitations will be mailed sometime in April, however help is still needed to update the classmate contact list. For this reunion, it will include those that were once classmates at some point throughout the class' educational career at Linton. The deadline for removal of flowers from grave sites for spring clean up and mowing is April 15.

Supporting Heroes fundraiser

An all-you-can-eat fundraiser benefiting Supporting Heroes will be from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on March 30 at the Lewis Township Fire Department in Coalmont. On the menu is spaghetti, salad, desserts and drinks. Adult tickets are $6. Tickets for children under 10 are $3.

The First of Church of God

The First Church of God, State Road 54 East in Linton, will no longer host its monthly gospel sings. The church thanks the public for its past support.

Basket, tool bingo

The seventh annual basket and tool bingo will be held April 11 at the Lyons Community Building. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Bingo at 6:30 p.m. Food, door prizes and a special drawing for advance ticket holders will also take place. Purchase tickets at Cathy's Beauty Salon in Switz City, Hearing Aid Services in Linton, Becky's Salon in Lyons or at the door. Nine pack for $10.

Greene County Republican Women's Club

The Greene County Republican Women's Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on March 25 at the Main Street Cafe in Worthington.

New Convenant Ministries

New Convenant Ministries will host revival with Bill Cummins, of Ohio, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and March 24-27 at 7 p.m.

Fish Fry

The Jefferson Township Fire Department will host a fish fry from 4-8 p.m. on April 5 at the Pleasantville Gym. Cost is adults $7, and children under 12 $3.50.

Greene County Coin Club

Greene County Coin Club will meet at 7 p.m. on March 26 at the 4-H Building. The public is welcome to attend.

In Honor of MLK, Jr.

The public is invited to an event honoring The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy of peacemaking on April 6 from 3 - 5 p.m. at the Ivy Tech Community College cafeteria in Bloomington, marking the 40th anniversary of Dr. King's assassination. This event, titled "A Time to Break Silence: Clergy and Laity Concerned about Afghanistan and Iraq," will center on a speech Dr. King delivered at New York City's Riverside Church one year before his death in 1968. An audio segment of Dr. King's speech will be played at this event. Local clergy and professors will respond to Dr. King's message, which is prophetically relevant for our time. An opportunity for table discussions and the formation of small, ongoing forums inspired by Dr. King's vision will complete this event. Memory Makers Quilt Guild

The Memory Makers Quilt Guild of Greene County will meet in the community room of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Library on March 27 at 6 p.m. The library is located at 125 S. Franklin Street in Bloomfield. The hostess for the evening will be Connie Emily. The fabric exchange will be "something spring." There are no member's birthdays in March. It will be finalizing plans for the upcoming Quilt Show on April 3-5 at the library.

The Marco United Methodist Church will host a fish fry at 4 p.m. on April 5. Cost is adults $7 and children under 12 $3.

Crane VFW Easter egg hunt

The Crane VFW annual Easter egg hunt will be at noon today.

Bloomfield Library

The Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library main branch will be hosting an American Red Cross Baby-sitting Class on today from noon to 4 p.m. for students ages 11-15. The cost of this two-day class is $30 and includes the training book. Participants must register to attend. Call 384-4125 to reserve your space.

WRV kindergarten pre-enrollment

Kurt Lentz, Lyons Elementary School, and Kevin Keller Worthington Elementary School, announce kindergarten pre-enrollment for the 2008-09 school year will be at the respective schools in Worthington and Lyons on April 11. Worthington pre-enrollment will be alphabetically by last name on the day of enrollment. -- 1 p.m., last name beginning with "A" through "M" and 2 p.m., last name beginning with "N" through "Z." Lyons pre-enrollment will be anytime between noon and 2 p.m. on the day of enrollment.

Summer classes available

Registrations are now being accepted for Vincennes University and Ivy Tech State College summer college credit classes at the Greene County Learning Center. Schedule f is now on the website www.clcinfo.org/greene_schedule.phpclasses

Raffle for hand-hooked rug

The Newberry Progressive Club is selling raffle tickets for a hand-hooked rug. The rug -- on display at the Bloomfield State Bank Newberry Branch -- was designed by Janice Spaulding and hand-hooked by Marilyn Stewart and Jan Cabel. Tickets are $1 each or 10 for $5. Tickets can be purchased at the BSB Newberry Branch or from any Progressive Club member. The drawing will be May 3. Proceeds will be used to benefit the Newberry community.

Peavey Cemetery

The Peavey Cemetery Board will begin spring cleanup on April 1. The board is requesting the removal of winter decorations/wreaths (which interfere with mowing) prior to April 1. Memorial Day decorations that interfere with mowing should be removed by June 15.

LHS Class of 1978

The Linton-Stockton High School class of 1978 will host its 30th year class reunion/pitch dinner at 6 p.m. on July 4 at the American Legion Park in Linton. All graduating and non-graduating class members are encouraged to attend. For more information or to RSVP call Jackie Strong at 847-7878.

Alzheimer's support

The Alzheimer's Association offers caregiver support group meetings at 7 p.m. on the last Thursday of the month at the Linton Public Library.

Worthington Playground Fund

The staff members and students at White River Valley-Worthington Elementary School are raising funds to replace playground equipment in memory of former principal the late Larry Catron. Donations of all amounts are being accepted and engraved bricks are being sold. Call 875-3839 for more information.

Saron Church of Christ

Saron Church of Christ and St. Peter Catholic Church have combined their food pantries. The Linton Community Food Pantry is located at 440 E. St. NE (the former St. Peter Food Pantry). The hours are 1-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. - noon on Saturdays. The St. Peter Thrift Shop will remain open at that location at the same hours.

Greene County Soil and Water Conservation

The Greene County Soil and Water Conservation District will meet the first Thursday of each month in the office in Bloomfield at 6 a.m. The public is welcome to attend. For more information call 384-4781, Ext. 3

Lyons Senior Citizens center

The Lyons Senior Citizens Center, 150 N. Jefferson St., now has wooden toy crafts for sale. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lyons First Christian Church youth group

The Lyons First Christian Church youth group meets at 6 p.m. on Mondays at the church's East Broad Street location.

Solsberry Church coat giveaway

The Solsberry Christian Church VBS students raised money to give fans away during the warm weather and are now in the process of a cold weather coat giveaway. If you need a coat or know of someone who does, please contact Aaron Miller (812) 825-5222 (ext. 3) to schedule an appointment to pick up a coat.

Dugger Legion to meet

The Rexford Ballard American Legion Post 224 will meet the first and third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Jasonville Senior center update

The Jasonville Senior Citizen Center, located at 145 S. Lawton, has opened a country store and gift shop. It will be open from 9 a.m.-noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All proceeds will benefit the senior center. For more information, call the center at 665-9882.

Wig bank

The American Cancer Society announced its wig program is now being offered to cancer patients at Pam's Style Shop in Bloomfield. Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous will meet Saturdays at 7 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church on State Road 54 East. There will be open discussion and all are welcome.

Food pantry

Lebanon Baptist Food Pantry will only be open on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m.

Bloomfield Food pantry

The Refuge Assembly of God food pantry will be open every Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. to assist those living in Bloomfield. To donate, please contact Trina at 384-8093 during the pantry's open hours.
