Elizabeth A. Norris, 42, Bloomfield, was eastbound around 7 a.m. on S.R. 54 just east of County Road 625 East near English Construction, in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix when she hit a patch of ice and started to slide.
The car went off the south side of the roadway and over the embankment then struck a utility pole, a fence and a fence post before coming to rest in a field.
Reserve Deputy Karen Oliphant of the Greene County Sheriff's Department was the investigating officer.
Oliphant noted no injuries were reported, but that seatbelts were in use and the vehicle's airbags were deployed.
Others assisting on the scene included GCSD Sheriff Terry Pierce and Deputy Terry Wade, Bloomfield Town Marshal Ken Tharp and the Center Township Fire Department.
I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, well everyone except the State Highway Garage they weren't very concerned for our safety. My passenger and I both walked away with just sore muscles. Thanks!
The police had called the State Highway department an hour prior to this wreck, after working another at that same spot, requesting they get the road salted asap there. Nice to see they care.
I used to live around that corner and I witnessed a lot of near misses. I am sorry there have been worse accidents in that area lately.
