According to the Greene County Sheriff's Department, it was a day of black ice, frozen water on roadways and 26 accidents caused by weather conditions.
From ice to rain to flooding, the weather has been making headlines and been the cause of many more.
On Thursday morning, the rain combined with temperatures hovering around the freezing mark to make county roadways treacherous with patches of unexpected ice.
Deputies were called to the scene of several wrecks and slide-offs that morning in the eastern parts of the county.
The first call came in at 4:54 a.m. and the onslaught continued until just past 11 a.m.
Of the 26 incidents reported, 11 were slide-offs on slick roadways and 15 were labeled as full-blown accidents.
Five of the incidents resulted in personal injuries and the rest caused varying degrees of property damage.
The areas where officers were called included State Road 45 from S.R. 54 to Timber Trace, S.R. 54 from S.R. 45 to the Lawrence County line, and S.R. 58 east of the Crane gate.
Officers responding to the scenes included Greene County Deputies Chris McDonald, Terry Wade, Aaron Smith, Reserve Deputy Karen Oliphant and Sheriff Terry Pierce; Bloomfield Town Marshal Ken Tharp and Deputy Marshal Brad Deckard.
