Indiana University will be offering a Digital Photography class just in time to enter the GoosePond Photo Contest. The class will begin April 21 and meet two Mondays and two Wednesday from 6-8 pm. Master the fundamentals of digital photography including the features of a digital camera, photo composition, and downloading of images to a computer. Students will discover key camera functions including white balance, resolution, image size and format. Register before April 14th, cost is $75. Book Sale scheduled
Under the sponsorship of The Friends of the Bloomfield - Eastern Greene County Public Library, teen volunteers will be holding a book sale on Thursday, March 27th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the library's community room, 125 S. Franklin Street, Bloomfield. All proceeds from the sale will be used to improve the Teen Room at the library. There will be a large selection of fiction and non-fiction for children and adults. Jigsaw puzzles, magazines and VCR tapes will also be for sale. Most paperback books are 25 cents, most hardbacks 50 cents. Some premium and collectible books are priced slightly higher. The LSHS Class of '88 is currently making preparations for its upcoming 20-year Class Reunion. Supporting Heroes fundraiser
An all-you-can-eat fundraiser benefiting Supporting Heroes will be held from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on March 30 at the Lewis Township Fire Department in Coalmont. On the menu is spaghetti, salad, desserts and drinks. Adult tickets are $6. Tickets for children under 10 are $3.

Party with the Bunny Saturday
The Bloomfield Tri-Kappa Sorority will hold its annual "Party with the Bunny" program from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Greene County Cooperative Extension Service building at 4-H Fairgrounds, one mile west of the State Road 54/State Road 57 junction. Cost is $3 for a child and $1 for each adult. All children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be games, crafts, door prizes and snacks. Children will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with the Easter Bunny. Proceeds from the event go to Riley Children's Hospital's in Indianapolis.

Mansions in Heaven Church, at 201 S. Franklin St. in Bloomfield, will hold special Easter services. The ordinance service of communion foot washing will be today at 7 p.m. Good Friday services will be at 7 p.m. with Steve Haywood and friends entertaining with special music. Easter Sunday service will begin at 7 a.m. with a sunrise service followed by regular service at 9:30 a.m.

American Cancer Society Daffodil Days
Greene County residents can still fight back against cancer and share hope for those facing the disease by supporting the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days. This long-standing program, which involves offering daffodils every spring, is about more than just giving beautiful flowers -- it is everyone's opportunity to share hope for a world free of cancer. For a minimal donation, your bunch of fresh-cut daffodils will support the fight against cancer. A bunch of 10 fresh-cut daffodils in a vase will be available for a donation of $10 or $15. Daffodils are available at Farmers & Mechanics Federal Savings and Ace Hardware in Bloomfield Saturday.

In Honor of MLK, Jr.
The public is invited to an event honoring The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy of peacemaking on April 6 , from 3 - 5 p.m. at the Ivy Tech Community College cafeteria in Bloomington, marking the 40th anniversary of Dr. King's assassination. This event, titled "A Time to Break Silence: Clergy and Laity Concerned about Afghanistan and Iraq," will center on a speech Dr. King delivered at New York City's Riverside Church one year before his death in 1968. An audio segment of Dr. King's speech will be played at this event. Local clergy and professors will respond to Dr. King's message, which is prophetically relevant for our time. An opportunity for table discussions and the formation of small, ongoing forums inspired by Dr. King's vision will complete this event. Raffle for hand-hooked rug
The Newberry Progressive Club is selling raffle tickets for a hand-hooked rug. The rug -- on display at the Bloomfield State Bank Newberry Branch -- was designed by Janice Spaulding and hand-hooked by Marilyn Stewart and Jan Cabel. Tickets are $1 each or 10 for $5. The Peavey Cemetery Board will begin spring cleanup on April 1. The board is requesting the removal of winter decorations/wreaths (which interfere with mowing) prior to April 1. Memorial Day decorations that interfere with mowing should be removed by June 15.
