In Honor of MLK, Jr.

The public is invited to an event honoring The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy of peacemaking on April 6 , from 3 - 5 p.m. at the Ivy Tech Community College cafeteria in Bloomington, marking the 40th anniversary of Dr. King's assassination. This event, titled "A Time to Break Silence: Clergy and Laity Concerned about Afghanistan and Iraq," will center on a speech Dr. King delivered at New York City's Riverside Church one year before his death in 1968. An audio segment of Dr. King's speech will be played at this event. Local clergy and professors will respond to Dr. King's message, which is prophetically relevant for our time. An opportunity for table discussions and the formation of small, ongoing forums inspired by Dr. King's vision will complete this event. Friends of Library

The Friends of the Bloomfield - Eastern Greene County Library will host their next book sale March 20 in the library's lower-level lobby, 125 S. Most paperbacks are 25 cents, most hardbacks 50 cents, some premium books slightly higher. The White River Valley Board of School Trustees will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the administrative center. An executive session will precede the open meeting at 5 p.m. to discuss personnel issues.

Breakfast with the Bunny program March 22

The Bloomfield Tri-Kappa Sorority will conduct its annual "Breakfast with the Bunny" program from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22 at the Greene County Cooperative Extension Service building at 4-H Fairgrounds, one mile west of the State Road 54/State Road 57 junction. Cost is $5 for a child with an adult and $3 for each additional child. There will be games, crafts, door prizes and snacks. Children also can have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with the Easter Bunny. Proceeds from the event go to Riley Children's Hospital's in Indianapolis.

The Newberry Progressive Club is selling raffle tickets for a hand-hooked rug.
