Born Feb. 2, 1914, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Adams) Gross.
A retired school cook, she started as a cook at Grandview Elementary School and worked at several schools in the Monroe County Community School Corp., retiring in 1976 from Fairview Elementary School.
She was a member of the Knightridge Baptist Church and attended the Worthington Christian Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marilyn Wright of Worthington; one stepdaughter, Martha Johnson of Solsberry; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, and several step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Pate of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dayle Koons, in 1996; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Carmichael; three sisters, Lucille Parks, Gladys Ferguson and Margaret McDonald; and three brothers, Lloyd Gross, Russell Gross and Raymond Gross.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel in Bloomington with Keith Bellinger officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may call 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
