Martha C. (Stierwalt) Freeman, 91, of Spencer and formerly of Midland, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at The Residence of McCormick's Creek.

She was born March 31, 1916 in Gosport to Morton and Clara Gayle (Anderson) Stierwalt.

She was a self-employed seamstress, raised foster children, enjoyed cooking and played the piano and sang at many different churches.

Survivors include: a daughter Judy Hedden of Spencer; two sons William Laymon of Watauga, TX, and Larry Laymon of Terre Haute; a sister Mary Irons of Alpine, TX; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Freeman, in 1983, a daughter Barbara Cross, two sisters Lucy Jones and Dortha Woods, and a son- in-law Lennie Hedden.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m, Thursdayat West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer with Pastor Diane Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service.
