Walter E. West, 77, of Linton and formerly of Jasonville, passed away at 9 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2008 at his residence.
Born March 22, 1930 in Clay County, he was the son of Orval T West and Flossie M (Raley) West.
He had had worked in the pressroom for Terre Haute Tribune, Indianapolis Star News, and the Herald Bulletin in Anderson where he retired. He was a member of the Linton Church of Christ, Jasonville American Legion Post No.172 and the Linton Moose Lodge.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a drill instructor during the Korean War.
Survivors include: his wife, Elizabeth Betty L (Wools) West of Linton; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Neil Doane of Longbont, CO; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Lori West of Washington; a brother Woodrow West of Leesburg, FL; sisters-in-law, Irmal Wools of Greenwood and Connie Wools of Linton; brother-in-law: Clarence and Anna Lee Wools, of Linton; Kenneth Wools of Terre Haute; grandsons, Gabriel Doane, Joshua and Benjamin West; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother, Marshall West; and an infant daughter, Brenda West.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville with Bro. Jerry Carmichael officiating. Internment will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Farmersburg.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Friday and 9 AM until service time
