Delbert Gene Groomer

Delbert Gene Groomer, 56, of Bloomfield, passed away 4:00 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008 at his residence.

Born August 29, 1951 in Greene County, he was the son of Clyde and Iva Jean (Sullivan) Groomer.

He worked for Mark Morin Logging and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Men's auxiliary of the VFW.

Surviving relatives include: three daughters, Melissa Talley of Champaign, IL, Molly Burcham of Hope, and Melinda Ann Herald of Avon; his mother, Iva Jean (Sullivan) Groomer of Bloomfield; one sister, Lynda Thornton of Bloomfield; two brothers, Clyde "Toad" Groomer of Bloomfield and Bobby Wayne Groomer of Solsberry; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Groomer in 1974, one son, Delbert Gene II, and one brother, David Groomer.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Brother Ed Smith officiating. Interment will be in Hash cemetery in rural Bloomfield.

Friends may call from soon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
