Born July 1, 1927 in Clay County, he was the son of John Edward and Maude Elsie (Morse) Russell.
A U.S. Army of World War II, he had worked on the railroad during the early years of construction and was a supervisor/set-up man for Keller Chair Factory and worked at Worthington Packing Company for seven years. He was a member Linton VFW and Moose Lodge.
Survivors include: his wife, Helen M. Russell of Jasonville; daughters, Lucinda Smith of Greeneville, OH; Rebecca Beaudry of Jasonville, Tamara Smith of Jasonville; step-daughter, Millicent Bearickx of Michigan City; a son, Don Russell of Jasonville; step-sons, Jesse Bailey of Tulsa, OK, Max and Brent Bailey of Bartlesville, OH, Michael Bailey of New Carlisle; a sister, Edith Russell of Linton; brothers, Carl Russell of Jasonville, Herbert Russell of New Castle, James Russell of Jasonville and Gene Russell of Terre Haute; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Steven N. Russell and Jon Harold Russell; sisters, Olive (Love) Russell and Creola (Morris) Russell; and brothers, Frank Russell, Willis Joseph Russell and Earl Ray Russell.
Graveside sevices will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peavey Cemetery in Howesville with Pastor Brad West officiating.
McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home in Jasonville is in charge of arrrangements.
There will be no visitation.
