He was born Oct. 22, 1916 in Indianapolis to the late William and Ival Hanson.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II I as a Half Track Commander for the 11th Armored Division during the Battle of the Bulge and was later awarded a Purple Heart. He retired from Moor Feed Corp. in 1985. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans, Knights of Columbus #3660, VFW #5626, and Moose Lodge #17.
He is survived by his children, Beverly Hanson, Paul and wife, Sara Hanson, and Steve and wife, Kim Hanson; companion, Mary R. Fisher; sister, Lorena Moore; grandchildren, Paul Hanson, Frank Forbes, Marcia Hanson, Melanie and husband Joe Boosey, Jessica and husband Todd Vansickle, Emily and husband, Jeremy Helm; twins Jeremiah and Zachary Hanson; and great-grandchildren, Maddy, Caleb, Olivia, and twins Levi and Liam.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Hanson, and second wife, Virginia Hanson.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home Beech Grove Chapel.
A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
