Born Dec. 13, 1913, in Posey County, she was the daughter of William and Ella (Nickens) Hames.
She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Linton for many years and was currently a member of the Linton First United Methodist Church.
She served as a Pink Lady at Greene County General Hospital for many years.
Survivors include a son, William Wheat and his wife, Linda, of Mt Carmel, IL; two grandchildren, Diane Ingledue of Macomb, IL and Alan Wheat of Macomb, IL; and a great-grandchild, Tanner Wheat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wheat on Dec. 23, 1984; two sisters, Elmo Russell and May Ingram; and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel with Rev. Doug Witt officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday and after 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
