Born Oct. 6, 1920, in Greene County, he was the son of John H. Mabel Royal Hostetter.
He was a machinist for Kohlman Motor Supply. He was a member of Elnora Christian Church; chairman of the board at Elnora Christian Church; White River Valley Antique Association, and the 2001 Grand Marshall of Daviess County Fair Parade.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hall Hostetter of Elnora; two sons, John Edward Hostetter of Elnora and Larry Wayne Hostetter of Lakeville, Minn.; three brothers, Walter Steele of Worthington, Dale Padgett of Linton and Jack Padgett of Klamath Falls, Ore.; two sisters, Clara belle Grafton of Loogootee and Aretta Spoonmore of Avoca; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Don, Donnie, Leo and Jesse Wayne Hostetter; two sisters, Maxine and Vera Dean; and his parents.
Funeral service was at the Anderson-Poindexter Linton Memory Chapel at 10 a.m. today with Randall Barnett officiating. Burial followed at Walnut Grove in Boomfield.
Friends called at the funeral home from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday, and from 8:30 a.m. today until the time of service.
