Born Nov. 10, 1905 in Pleasantville, he was the son of Tell Tryon and Mable "Mayme" Newkirk Tryon.
He was a Linton police officer for 25 years, a charter member and oldest member of the Linton Fraternal Order of Police, and had also been superintendent of Fairview Cemetery in Linton. He was a veteran of World War II, member of American Legion in Linton where he was a Past Commander and 7th District Commander, VFW in Worthington and 40&8 in Linton
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley D. Bryan of Fremont, Ohio, Sue (Mrs. Bill) Lynn of Dugger and Jean (Terry) Burgess of Switz City; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Thelma O. Tryon who died Nov. 15, 1994; two brothers; three sisters; and one great-grandson.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery in Linton. Friends may call at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home in Linton from 4-8 p.m. today.
