She was born in Sullivan County on Dec. 14, 1921 to Fred and Eva Boruff Christy.
She was a cleaning lady at Allen's Motel and worked at Crane during World War II.
She is survived by one son, Edward Cox of Louisville, Ky.; four daughters, Myrna and Les Hahn of Westfield, Ill., Carolyn and Frank Cox of Linton, Phyllis Flynn of Tampa, Fla. and Peggy and Verne Bender of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Burl Christy of Dugger; one sister, Virginia and John Rankin of Dugger; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm R. Cox; two sons Monty and Malcolm, Jr.; one daughter Linda Chestnut; two grandsons, Ricky and Troy.
Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel with the Rev. Cletus Bough. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitiation will be from 4 - 6 p.m. on Friday.
