Born Oct. 25, 1925, he was the son of Lloyd and Aerie Pope of Jasonville.

He served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Donna Pope of Vacaville, Calif.; sons Alan Pope and his wife Cheryl of East Peoria, Ill., Gary Pope and his wife Susan of Kingwood, Texas; grandchildren Julie Eakin and Danielle Pope, Kimberly Pope and Heather Noe, Amy Cade, Jodie Hannan, Marcy Jones, Haley Pope and Todd Scherer; and five great-grandchildren.

The Kingwood Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
