Cora Alice Ellis, 83, of Dugger, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at 9:35 p.m. at Sullivan County Community Hospital.

Born July 13, 1921, in Sullivan County, she was the daughter of Kersey Ransford and Roohk (Sims) Ransford.

She was a member of the Hickory United Methodist Church, and the Town and Country Home Economics Club in Dugger.

Survivors include two sons, Brad Ellis of Bloomfield and Bruce Ellis of Dugger; three daughters, Kay Cox of Sullivan, Reva Gambill of Dugger, and Alice Hardesty of Bucktown; one sister, Mable Exline of Dugger; nine grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Ellis in 1984; one son, Bill Ellis in 1985; one brother, James H. Ransford; one sister, June Goodman; and her parents.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger. Burial will follow at Hickory Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, and before services on Saturday.
