Born on Jan. 27, 1925 in Clay County, she was the daughter of Earl Haviland and Esther "Croft" Waggoner.
She was a housewife and a member of the Rebecca Lodge of Hymera, and the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 717 of Worthington. She loved her family, sewing and doing crafts, and was a euchre player, winning several tournaments.
Survivors include two sons Ralph Carpenter, Jr., and wife Deloris, and Randall Carpenter; two daughters, Shirley Carpenter and Edwina Vaughn and husband Mark; one sister, Hazil Wilson; 12 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was prececed in death by her husband, Ralph Carpenter, Sr.; her parents; four brothers, Loraine "Bud" Haviland, Theodore "Ted" Haviland, Otho Waggoner, Jr., and Renos Waggoner; and one son, Paul Earl Carpenter.
Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mattox-McHugh Funeral Home in Hymera with the Rev. Timothy Fleach officiating. Burial will follow at the K of P Cemetery.
