The Rev. Robert J. "Bob" Wilkes, 84, of Jasonville, passed away at 3:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 at Sullivan County Community Hospital, Sullivan.

Born March 10, 1920 in Jasonville, he was the son of John and Jenny (Williams) Wilkes. He married Elizabeth "Maxine" (Strait) Wilkes on May 17, 1939.

He served as a pastor and evangelist and was a member of the Jasonville Assembly of God Church and a Senior Ordained Minister of the Assemblies of God. He was also an Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors include: his wife Maxine Wilkes of Jasonville; a daughter and son-in-law Bobbie and Jere Landis of Jasonville; a son and daughter-in-law Robin and Sara Wilkes of Springfield, Ohio; a brother Harold Wilkes of Sullivan; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Jenny Wilkes and one grandson Jerry "Brud" Landis.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home, Jasonville with Pastor Sam Bush officiating. Burial will be at Lebanon Cemetery at Midland with military graveside rites.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
