Born Jan. 13, 1941 in Greene County, he was the son of Johnnie J. and Ada (McFarland) Ellett. He married Jeanie (Resler) Ellett on July 1, 1961.
He was a 1959 graduate of L&M High School. He was a member of the Linton First Christian Church and United Mine Workers of America. He retired as a mechanic for Peabody Coal Company, and was a self-employed farmer. He was active in drag racing.
Survivors include: his wife Jeanie Ellett of Lyons; four sons, Doug Ellett of Stilesville; Archie Ellett and his wife Michelle of Lyons, John Ellett and his wife Nissa of Corydon, and Ashley Ellett and his wife Michaela of Lyons; two brothers, Marlin and Kenny Ellett of Linton; nine grandchildren, Travis, Brittany, Charity, Jake, Austin, Abby, Jasmine, Rylee and Andrew; and his mother-in-law Laverne Resler of Linton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Bryan James Ellett.
Funeral service will be at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel at 1 p.m. on Tuesday with Mike Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery north of Newberry.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Terre Haute Hospice through the funeral home.
