Born July 25, 1903 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Charley E. and Mary Etta (Floyd) Haywood.
She had been a school teacher in Taylor Township and Bloomfield Schools for 46 years. She was a member of Mineral Methodist Church, where she served as Church and Ladies Aid Secretary and Treasurer for several years. She was a member of Bloomfield Mary Rebekah Lodge 595 and she graduated from Newberry High School and Indiana State University.
Survivors include: two sons, Leverne Jeffers of Indianapolis and Levon Jeffers and his wife Marjorie of Bloomington; two granddaughters, Patricia Broderick of Indianapolis and Carol Russell of Havelock, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law Sue Jeffers of Martinsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Eugene Jeffers, a granddaughter Tonda Lawrence, a daughter-in-law Edith Jeffers, two sisters and six brothers.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Bloomfield, with the Rev. Lloyd Swango officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, and one hour prior to service Tuesday at the funeral home.
