Garey Whitaker, 99, of Lyons and formerly of Bloomfield, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2005 at Lyons Health & Living Center.

Born April 22, 1905 in Greene County, he was the son of James Stanton and Julia Ann (Miller) Whitaker. He had been married to Ilene (Lester) Whitaker, who passed away in 1977.

He had been an electrician for Showers Brothers in Bloomfield, and also had worked for the Bloomfield Woolen Mill.

Survivors include: two daughters, Patsy Cochrane and Arlene Bailey, both of Bloomfield; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ilene, four sisters, and two brothers.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Bloomfield, with the Rev. Billy Ed Hostettler officiating. Burial will be in Scotland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, and one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home.
